Is it harmonica notes and songs you are after or do you want to learn how to play harmonica better than anyone else? If it really is the notes and songs you are after there are the best links on where to get these just below, however if you want to better your skills, hang around a minute.
I know from experience it is hard to stick with something – even if it is something you thoroughly enjoy. It is my experience that unless you either have a very good teacher you need some sort of program.
Head over to John Gindick’s site, he really knows his stuff and yes, he does have a lot of excellent programs, however he has heaps of free goodies to study up on!
Here are 2 of the best in the game – just remember, you will only be as good as your teacher and I seriously recommend getting some of the free lessons John gives.
If you are just beginning – here goes a quick lesson in whats what in harmonica.
1)
There are two scales to play in, diatonic and chromatic-diatonic is the one you will start in if you have no musical theory or no other instrument knowledge. It is fine except you will not be able to play some songs the way that they sound originally.
2)
Learn tab-it is the quickest way to get you into playing. If you can’t play anything you like you will soon lose interest so this is the best way to get started. Eventually if you decide harmonica is for you then you will want to learn musical theory.
3)
Practice daily-the biggest reason for people not getting ahead, in any of their desires, is only going at it half heartedly. If you want to succeed you must practice every day. Even if it is only for 10 mins.
Happy playing, remember play a harrmonica note every night and you’ll win – I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again-go see John
Yours
Jay
